Bluets are my favorite wild flower. These tiny little stars bloom out of cracks and crevices on woodland trails in Western North Carolina. You can find them on almost every trail in the western part of the state during their blooming season. They are happy little flowers that are tenaciously prolific.
They bloom and reseed themselves and bloom again all summer. The stems stand erect with one single 4 petal bloom at the end of each stem. The diameter of each bloom is about the same as a pencil eraser. These little flowers always make me smile.
