Mt. Pisgah Trail

On the Blue Ridge Parkway National Park

  • Distance: 3 Miles RT (Discrepancy between measured and official)
  • Elevation Change: 750 feet
  • Difficulty: Moderate

Mt. Pisgah Trailhead is located near mile marker 408 on the Blue Ridge Parkway (National Park). It is heavily traveled. Park in the second parking lot, the first is for Buck Spring’s Trail.

This trail continues onto National Forest land to climb to the summit of one of the area’s most well-known peaks. Easily visible from most of downtown Asheville, I-26 and Hendersonville, Mount Pisgah’s 5721′ summit supports the transmission tower for WLOS-TV, channel 13.

The trail itself is a rocky, steep climb through Northern hardwood forests, and rhododendron and mountain laurel tunnels, to the summit, where 360 degree views await each hiker! It is a very popular trail and at times can be quite crowded.
